Dachshund meet up - walkies at Saltram

The Devon Dachshund Crew is a Facebook group for all those Dachshund owners in Devon who enjoy group walks with their standards and minis. With regular meet ups, the first group walk of the year for 2018 was at Saltram National Trust Park in Plympton, Plymouth.

The three mile route is just enough for dachshunds and their little legs and combines woodland and waterfront views along the Saltram estuary.

Meeting new dachshunds and also seeing some familiar faces from a previous walk, Joey and his Dachshund bestie Ralph enjoyed walking with over 30 other Dachshunds and dogs.

The Devon Dachshund Crew is a welcoming group of all ages. The walks enable the dogs to socialise and walk in a friendly pack whilst owners can discuss tips on dog training and behaviours or simply spend some time with fellow Dachshund enthusiasts.

Farewell from Joey and Ralph - until next time!

Covent Garden at Christmas

London at Christmas is always magical. This December 22nd, I made my annual Christmas trip to London to visit Gemma. We spent the evening relaxing with mulled wine, delicious food and watching the perfect Christmas girlie movie - The Holiday - whilst exchanging presents (thank you for the amazing signed Megan Hess fashion illustration books!) and catching up about Gemma’s Dubai lifestyle and my adventures in Devon.

The next day we ventured into central London to Covent Garden for a day of Christmas festivity. First stop was a visit to Cecil Street off Leicester Square where my favourite bookshop - Marchpane - stocks rare editions of Alice in wonderland books which I love to look at and compare. We then walked to Covent Garden and paid a visit to the Perersham Nurseries shop, which is full of flora and fauna inspired decor, soft furnishings, botanical candles and beautiful flower arrangements, and browses the stalls around Covent Garden market whilst admiring the giant gold bauble decorations suspenders from the roof.

We then walked to Seven Dials where we had a table booked at the Covent Garden Hotel’s Brasserie Max.

With a lovely window seat reserved at Brasserie Max, it was great to be able to relax and enjoy an Afternoon Tea treat. We had the gluten free option complete with finger sandwiches, warm scones with jam and cream and a selection of festive and traditional patisserie delights. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with a magical Christmas feel.

We then walked to Carnaby Street and Liberty for some more Christmas shopping before ending the day with a glass of Prosecco and Chombord before I caught my train from London Paddington back to Plymouth. After a wonderful weekend - here’s to next Christmas!
